Norma, a cabin near Port Angeles and Olympic National Park

A cabin on ten acres of alders, on the Olympic Peninsula.

Sleeps two to four Open for booking

Two hours from Seattle, at the doorstep of Olympic National Park — built for people who need a place to stop being busy.

01The cabin

Cedar, glass, warm light, and room to hear the forest.

Norma sits on ten acres of alder woodland at the edge of Olympic National Park. Featuring one bedroom, a loft, full kitchen, fireplace, projector, curated CDs and a shower with a window into the trees. Wake up to the gentle warmth through the skylight and friendly deer sightings.

02The area

Two hours from Seattle. Close enough.

The cabin is twenty minutes from Port Angeles, five from the beach, and fifteen from a lake so clear it doesn't look real. Most guests pick one activity a day. And most days, that's enough.

— While you're here

A few ways to spend the day, if you feel like leaving.

5 min from the cabin

Striped Peak Loop

Salt Creek Recreation Area is right down the road. The loop climbs through old-growth fir and hemlock to a 1,166-foot ridge above the Strait of Juan de Fuca — on a clear day you can see Vancouver Island. There's a side path down to a hidden cove with tidepools. About 6 miles round trip.

5 min from the cabin

Crescent Beach

A day-use fee gets you one of the better sunsets on the peninsula. The beach faces west across the Strait. Bring something to sit on.

15 min from the cabin

Twin Beach

A wild, uncrowded stretch of coastline on the Strait. Good for surfing when conditions are right. Good for sitting when they're not.

~20 min from the cabin

Granny's Cafe

On Highway 101, west of Port Angeles. Burgers, homemade pies, and soft-serve ice cream. There are farm animals out back — chickens, goats, emus. It's been there since 1956 and feels like it. Go for the blackberry pie.

Port Angeles, ~25 min

Lincoln Park

The grocery store in town with the best selection of snacks and healthy sandwiches. Good for a stop throughout the day.

Port Angeles, ~25 min

Country Aire

Natural and local provisions. The place to visit if you're stocking the fridge properly.

~30 min from the cabin

Lake Crescent — Devil's Punchbowl

One of the clearest lakes in Washington, deep enough that the water turns a particular shade of blue on sunny days. The Devil's Punchbowl is a swimming and jumping spot on the north shore, reachable via a mile-long walk along the Spruce Railroad Trail. The water is slightly cold and totally worth it.

~1.5 hrs — worth a full day

La Push

The Quileute coast on the Pacific side of the peninsula. First Beach is accessible right from the parking lot — black sand, driftwood, sea stacks, seals in the water. Second Beach requires a short hike and rewards it. No cell service at all, so bring everything you need.

— A note from us

We built Norma around the kind of quiet we were always looking for: slow mornings, long shadows on the deck, music playing softly, and nothing that has to get done.

The road in is peaceful. The neighbors are trees. We hope you stay a little longer than you planned, and leave with some of the forest still in you.

Saved you a spot.
